I spent most of my day stationed by a door. I was helping at the FBLA-PBL State Leadership Conference with the performance business competitions. All afternoon, I watched high school and college students wait outside the door before they went inside to give their presentation. Most of them were a little nervous, some were very nervous, and some were confident as they waited outside the door. I asked them their names, brought them into the presentation room and introduced them to the judge and timekeeper.
The fun part was watching them as they came out the door after they had finished. The look of relief was all over their faces. Some of the teams were high fiving and hugging after their performance because they felt they had done so well. It was pretty cool just seeing the satisfaction and the confidence they gained after a 7-minute presentation.
And all I had to do was sit by the door.
