Each day I try and pray a short meditative prayer to the Holy Spirit.
Holy Spirit soul of my soul, I adore you. Guide me, strengthen me, and console me, tell what to do. Give me your orders, and I promise to submit to whatever you desire of me, and to accept everything you allow to happen to me. Let me know your will.
After I finish the prayer, I try and just sit and listen, listen for God. It’s not easy. In fact, I would say it is one of the most challenging things I try and do.
I’m in Stillwater, Oklahoma with a group of Phi Beta Lambda students from OPSU. We are here for the State Leadership Conference and Business competition. I have found that going on a trip with students whether it is high school or college age is one of the best ways to get to know them. I know some of them in a small way in a classroom setting, but when we go on a trip, I get to know them in a different light. I’ve found that they are all very special and unique in their own way. I treasure the opportunity to just sit and have a conversation with them over a meal, or while we are waiting on a contest. I’ve found that to get to know them I don’t need to talk. I just need to listen.
Do you suppose that’s the same way with God? The best way we can get to know Him is to listen?
