Psalm 50 Praise to You Lord

14 Offer praise as your sacrifice to God; fulfill your vows to the Most High.

15 Then call on me in time of distress; I will rescue you, and you shall honor me.” (NAB)

Thank you Father for rescuing me in my times of distress.

You are the God who saves!

The past week has been fast and furious as well as slow and methodical. Saturday, I drove back from Denver where I had been attending the Fides et Ratio Seminar sponsored by the Faith and Reason Institute

The seminar took place at St. John Vianney Theological Seminary. My room was in the Spirituality House. It is where the seminarians stay during their first year of seminary. During the year they go to classes and set aside huge chunks of the day for reading Sacred Scripture, prayer, and spiritual reading. They also have a spiritual director.

The room had all I needed, a bed, desk, bookcase, sink, and closet. The bathroom and showers were down the hall. The downstairs had a common living room and kitchen and opened out into a sitting patio. The most important thing the Spirituality House had was a chapel where we celebrated mass each day.

The week was full of reading, prayer, and stimulating discussion, but the greatest blessing was getting to share companionship with the participants and traveling the journey together for a week. I did not know one person when I arrived, but by the time the seminar was over I had many new friends. (Some have even friended me on Facebook so it must be true 🙂

Special friends…friends because of Jesus…
