We have a guest writer for Mary Mail today. It is Teague’s Father, Ed, also known in these parts as Papoo. Have you ever given credit for something that God has done in your life that you just can’t explain? I remember when my Dad was having a heart cath. test a few years ago. The doctors were almost certain before the test that he would have to have some kind of bypass surgery, but there was a chance that he would just have to take medicine for his condition and there would be no surgery. Many people were praying for my Dad, and I can remember clear as day when Mom called me and told me the good news that surgery wouldn’t be needed. There was no doubt in my mind that God was directly involved. Well, Papoo has had such and experience and he shares it with us today. I think he is a little apprehensive about sharing in such a personal nature, but the good news is that God is being praised, and He will bless us all. Below is the email Papoo sent me, I have made very few corrections and left in most of its original format. And now here’s… Papoo!
MY FAMILY CALLS ME PAPOO. PAPOO IS A NAME GIVEN TO ME YEARS AGO BY A VERY YOUNG GRANDSON WHO HAD NO IDEA THAT IT MEANT GRANDFATHER IN GREEK.I AM—– TEAGUE’S FATEHR, And DAVIN’S FATHER IN LAW. I AM A PILGRIM. ——OVER THE PAST 3-5 YEARS I HAVE HAD A VERY DIFFICULT TIME SLEEPING. I WILL GO TO BED-SLEEP 2-3 HOURS AND THEN WAKEUP.FROM THEN ON I AM SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT I HAVE TO SIT IN A CHAIR TO SLEEP–RECENTLY MY DOCTOR MENTIONED THAT I MAY HAVE SLEEP APNIA-A PHYSICAL SITUATION WHERE THE BREATHING PASSAGES COLAPSES AND YOU QUIT BREATHING. HOPEFULLYY YOUR MIND WAKES YOU UP. HE SCHEDULED ME FOR A TEST AT A SLEEP LAB. ABOUT TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE TEST I RECIEVED AN E-MAIL THATASKED ME TO FORWARD ON FOR GOOD LUCK AND IF I DID NOT I WOULD HAVE BAD LUCK. WELL I NEVER FORWARD THESE, HOWEVER, THIS ONE HAD AN IRISH THEME.MY SISTER, JEAN, HAD JUST PASSED AWAY AND SHE WAS A GREAT SUPPORTER OF THE IRISH. THE E-MAIL REMINDED ME OF HER. SO I JUST SOFTLY SAID–JEAN, HOW ABOUTYOU AND THE BLESSED MOTHER WATCHING OVER ME ON THIS SLEEP TEST—JEAN WAS VERY CLOSE TO OUR LADY. —WELL I FLUNKED THE TEST AND THE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THAT I WOULD BE CONTACTED ABOUT GETTING FITTED FOR A RIG THAT PEOPLE WITH SLEEP APNIA WEAR AT NIGHT…—WELL WOULD YOU BELIEVE THAT SINCE THAT TEST I HAVE NOT BEEN WORRIED BY A SLEEP PROBLEM. I HOPE THAT THEY WOULD FORGET TO CALL BECAUSE I DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO SAY.WELL AFTER CALLING AND MISSING ME, THE SLEEP TECHNICIAN CAUGHT ME, SO I SAID TO HECK WITH IT. I ASKED HER IF SHE WAS A CHRISTIAN AND SHE LET ME KNOW THAT IN NO UNCERTAIN TERMS SHE WAS. I TOLD HER MY STORY, SAID THAT I WORRIED THAT I WOULD BE CONSIDERED A NUT, AND ASKED HER WHAT SHE THOUGHT, AND SHE SAID MR. JOHNSTON YOU HAVE BEEN HEALED. I TOLD HER PRAISE THE LORD I AM GLAD I GOT YOU. She SAID THAT SHE HAD A SON THAT THE DR.’S WANTED TO PUT ON DRUGS AND SHE WOULD NOT LET THEM-GOD WAS GIONG TO TAKE CARE OF THE PROBLEM. I THEN ASKED HER WHAT I SHOULD TELL MY DR., HE HAS NO SENSE OF HUMOR, HE IS JEWISH, AND HE IS GERMAN. SHE SAID TELL HIM THAT YOU ARE HEALED. THAT IS MY NEXT STEP–TELL MY DR.—GOD AMAZES ME HOW HE WORKS. PRAYER MAKES ME HUMBLE IN IT’’S POWER. IN PRAYING WE SHOULD NEVER CONFUSE GOD’S DELAY, WITH GOD’S DENEYAL (SP)——BLESS YOU——-
Papoo died January 7, 2007. I miss him.
