It seems this could be the question of the age. It is hard for me not to ponder why God lets things like the tsunami disaster in the Indian Ocean happen. The count is closing in on 150,000 dead and millions left homeless and a victim of this huge disaster. Don’t we all ask the question when a disaster (big or small) comes our way? Don’t we all wonder what God is up to when a young and innocent dies?
This why question is ongoing in the human race and doesn’t ever seem to be able to be answered, I suppose that we all would like to play God and end human suffering and make everything wonderful.
So, why does God (if there is a God) allow bad things to happen to innocent people?
I don’t know.
What I do know:
God loves each and every person who died or was affected by the tsunami. He loves them just as much as He loves you and I, and Jesus died for each one of them just like He did for you and I.
I wonder if this is a sign of the “end times”?
It seems to me we are all in our end time. The longest we could possibly seem to live on this earth is about 100 years. So it seems each of our end times begin as soon as we are born. As far as the world coming to an end any time soon, to God a day is like a 1000 years and 1000 years in like a day.
Maybe we have a few God like days left. So let us get back to the business of doing what Jesus asked of us and love each other as He loved.
May that love stretch to the Indian Ocean.
