Fried Chicken and Canasta

Publisher: dwinger Volume No. 6 Issue No. 6 Jun. 24, 08

“Let your servants see what you can do for them, let their children see your glory.” (Psalm 90: 16)

Last Saturday night we had a celebration at our house…well at least you could call it a mini celebration. The Gibson family came over and we ate fried chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, and watermelon. We capped it all off by playing some six handed canasta.

The TV wasn’t on, and we enjoyed conversation and laughter. My Grandmother Winger taught me how to play canasta when I was a boy. Teague and I had the game in common because her Grandmother had also taught her the game. When we were dating in college some of my fondest memories are playing canasta with Teague.

We have taught our kids and the neighbor kids to play, and I believe something is catching on. Games are fun for families and community. I am sure everyone can think of a fun game that they have enjoyed with their family and friends.

Do you think God is involved?
